Puppet on Strings
12 April 2017 The Spotlight
After starting Puppet on Strings in 2011, the band went through several changes and several name changes until finally deciding on the name and sound.
The drummer Dean Snyman was trained by Mark Trump and instantly fell in love with punk rock. He got the idea to start a punk rock band. He discussed it with Divan Snyman (his brother and guitarist) trained by Claude Kinghorn. They both got the idea to make the dream a reality.
They later asked guitarist Vincent Hudson to join the band. For several years they struggled to fully get the band going until mid 2016 when they invited Brendon Venter (Vocalist and bassist) trained by Rob Visser to join. The band instantly clicked and started writing songs.
After playing small gigs they eventually got a spot at Rumours lounge’s event “Fresh Fest” and later “Walmer Metal Fest”.
The bands sound is described as hardcore punk rock. A unique sound the mainly consists of punk rock with metal elements. Puppet On Strings has been infuenced through many bands such as Greenday, My Chemical Romance, Sum 41, Slipknot, Blink-182, Rise Against, Fall Out Boy and Nirvana
